Sprint

The Sprint Developer Program enables developers to submit applications for distribution through Sprint, and supports the following mobile operating systems and platforms: Android, Blackberry, Java ME, and Windows Phone. To participate in the Program, developers must comply with Sprint’s Privacy Guideline for Location Based Services (LBS Guidelines), the Mobile Marketing Association’s guidelines (pdf), and the CTIA’s “Best Practices and Guidelines for Location-Based Services.” (pdf)

  • Location Based Services Privacy Requirements (LBS Guidelines)
    • Privacy Policy:  With respect to each end user of any Application using location information the developer must maintain a clear and easily accessible privacy policy.
    • Notice: Developers must have their own standalone clear and conspicuous notice (a) about how end user or accountholder information, including location information, will be accessed, used, stored or collected and (b) that explains that the Application is a Developer product and that the Application is not connected to or affiliated with Sprint.
    • Consent and Use: With respect to location data, the developer must obtain appropriate consent to access, use, storage and disclosure.
    • Notice and Consent Record: Developers must maintain a Notice and Consent Record for each user, for a minimum of 5 years. The record must include, (1) an identifier to link the end user to the record, (2) a time and date stamp of the record, and (3) a reference to the version of the Sprint provided notice that was presented to the end user.
